Israel~The Birth of a Nation...

Those who endlessly scream about "Israel's crimes" need to stop the ranting and take time to carefully examine the evidence. This film, presented by one of the most respected English-speaking historians of the century, Sir Martin Gilbert, lays out in detail, the events that lead to the formation of the "only Jewish State in the world".

Visiting sites of the major events, Sir Martin speaks to those who participated and survived a war that has since been, in a sense, trivialized. The Arabs did attack and yes, Israel did prevail~but there is so much more. The Jews were willing to live side by side with their Arab neighbours no matter how tiny a state Israel would be, but the Arabs (even until today) wanted all of the Jews destroyed. People kill and are killed in wars, but the Arabs not only killed~they dismembered and mutilated beyond recognition their Jewish targets who included unarmed civilians, nurses and doctors. Nothing has changed...

In the past, and even today, Jews have been blamed for very ill~from the European plague of the middle ages, to accusations of Jews poisoning water supplies and murdering children to use their blood to make matza...the list is endless. In those times, Jewish "separation" and "dietary laws" as prescribed by the Torah often resulted in healthier Jewish communities, and of course, targeted them as "natural suspects". The cries of "blame the Jews" (regardless of their contributions to the well-being of the world) continue even until today.

Wishing only to live in peace within their own state, the Jewish people are accused of genocide, apartheid, land theft and more, by the very people who have been nourished, educated and provided with more freedoms~in Israel~than they would receive in any Arab country. Peace, or progress will never happen until we honestly look at history and take the decision to learn from our mistakes. Israel is not the enemy, or the "great evil" that some would have you believe...
