The Rape of Sweden~Coming Soon to Your Town

Take Note: This is not a stand-up comedy routine. Rape, abuse and every kind of violent and obscene crime is happening on a regular basis, in every country where muslims have been allowed to enter.

The denial, lies, deceit, corruption and stupidity of  elected officials, government representatives and the ever growing  farcical "media" has brought us to a stage of complete unbelievable bizzaro world existence.

What will it take for the world to wake up? How many innocents have to suffer? I would really like to see one major news reporting organization grow some balls and do some actual reporting for a change. The video below is only a small taste of where the world is going.

Political Correctness be damned~if the world is to survive we have to stop the nonsense and go back to law, order and the things that made the Western World great. We need a real revolution or the entire civilized world will be dragged into the third-world cesspool that Islam has been spreading since the illiterate, murderous, pedophile muhammed came up with his phony religion.

And, yeah, I know, you are all going to come and get me. Well, come ahead, do your best. If it means people start waking up and returning to common sense, well then...

Chabad Had A Chanukah Parade !

Chabad Menorah~Kikar Zion Jerusalem
Last night (09 December 2015) was the fourth night of Chanukah in Jerusalem.

We were walking around town looking at the lights and decided to head to Emek Refaim for coffee. Most people had chosen to stay inside, but it really was a nice crisp night for walking about.

When we saw multiple police go by with flashing lights, we first thought it was another terror attack but we were wrong!

Chabad was having a parade right through the German Colony (Jerusalem). The cars were playing music and on top of each car and truck were Chanukiot lit for the fourth night.

By the time I got outside it was almost over, but I managed to film a bit of what we saw~it was awesome! Chanukah Someyach!

Hanukkah Hip Hop~It's All In The Words!

Ari Lesser Is A Very Talented Young Man~Pay Attention to the Lyrics!

Lyrics

Chanukah just ain't what used to be
Cause some Jews got jealous of the Christmas Tree
Spent all their money on a shopping spree
Trying to be like the people they see on TV
Don't let yourself forget history
Knowledge is key, to set your mind free
Just open a book look back and see
What a really meant to be a Maccabee

Over two thousand years ago it began
When the Greeks marched on the Holy Land
They demanded the Jews lose their tradition
And those who refused were beat to submission

They conquered our country from west to east
Banned every festival, fast, and feast
Burned non-kosher beasts on the altar, the least
Righteous man paid a bribe so they made him High Priest

Every scroll of the Torah they saw was burned
Along with the teachers and students who learned
If they found out a circumcision was done
They'd slaughter the mother along with her son

Back then we could not rest on Shabbat
And those kept kosher were killed on the spot
Making us break our diet by taking
The life of those who would not eat bacon

They set up their idols in every town
And told all the Jews around to bow down
Most people obeyed trying to stay intact
But the Maccabees rose up and fought back

Chanukkah just ain't what used to be
Cause some Jews got jealous of the Christmas Tree
Spent all their money on a shopping spree
Trying to be like the people they see on TV
Don't let yourself forget history
Knowledge is key, to set your mind free
Just open a book look back and see
What a really meant to be a Maccabee

When they told a man named Matisiyahu
To bow to an idol in public view
Not only did he refuse, he slew
Some Jew who did what they told him to do
Then he fled to the wilderness and led
An army of rebels who liked what he said

They rose and stood to fight for what's good
Waging guerilla warfare in the woods
He had five sons named Yochanan
Shimon, Yehudah, Elazar, Yonantan
When their father passed, they vowed to fight on
Until they were dead or the Greeks were gone

Like a Hebrew hammer the Maccabees hit
Hellenists so hard that their army split
Made them run and hide, with G-d on their side
Retook the Temple had it purified

They only found enough oil to light
The Holy Menorah for a single night
But then a great miracle changed their fate
And the lamps all burned for eight days straight

Chanukkah just ain't what used to be
Cause some Jews got jealous of the Christmas Tree
Spent all their money on a shopping spree
Trying to be like the people they see on TV
Don't let yourself forget history
Knowledge is key, to set your mind free
Just open a book look back and see
What a really meant to be a Maccabee

They risked their lives to fight assimilation
But now Chanukkah's just a cheap imitation
Of some other foreign nation's celebration
That falls on a similar calendar location

The hocus pocus made you lose focus
You broke all the rules acting like Antiochus
Drinking eggnog like a hog till you get sick
Making your potato pancakes from Bisquick

You light the Menorah, but you don't study Torah
Cause your running like Lot after Sodom and Gomorrah
No Divine presence all from Walmart
So you still feel empty when you fill up your cart

If your great granddad saw that Chanukkah bush
You would get no gift just pach on the tush
Cause this holiday's not about buying stuff
It's to teach that a little bit's more than enough
Doesn't really matter if you're losing or winning
All you need is a dreidel to keep on spinning
Fry up feast bring your family near
And steer clear of the cashier this year

Chanukah just ain't what used to be
Cause some Jews got jealous of the Christmas Tree
Spent all their money on a shopping spree
Trying to be like the people they see on TV
 Don't let yourself forget history
Knowledge is key, to set your mind free
Just open a book look back and see
What a really meant to be a Maccabee

The "Forced" Collective Suicide of Europe...

This is Europe. Sadly the elected politicians refuse to acknowledge what is taking place. The few at the top of the heap are protected from what ordinary people must endure. Their children go to elite schools, they themselves are guarded and would never even visit the areas where all the discontent is taking place.

Most importantly they fill the press and media with false narratives. They praise Islam~Why? Muslims themselves are very open. They want "Only Islam and Sharia". They do not want to live according to the laws of the country or adopt democratic standards. Yes, there are a few who do truly want a new life, but they are in the minority.

The western mind cannot conceive of the middle-eastern mind-set. There is no comparison, we are not alike. While the west strives for equality and opportunity for all, the middle-east understands nothing other than brute force. If you are weak they will crush you, because these are people who do not accept following any law but Islam~and Islam rules through terror and brute force. They believe that all other people must be subservient or destroyed.

As for the woman at the end of the clip trying to place Jews in this mess, she is living in lala land. Like all the other politically correct, multi-culti fools, I am quite sure that she will be on the ground with a sword at her throat and still spouting the same crap. Muslims want all Jews dead~including her. When someone says over and over again that they are going to kill you~believe it! Jews who live in the middle-east know this, and we also know that the only place that is really safe for us, is Israel!

If you doubt that open gates will lead to the annihilation of western culture as we know it...keep this video and see where Europe is in 2020. Better yet, take a good, hard, honest look at Islam. Not the BS touted by the media. Only by educating yourselves and facing the truth will freedom and democracy have a chance.

Hevron~The City of Hospitality!

Our Welcoming Committee & a Few Friends from the IDF!
This past Shabbat I had the pleasure of being in Hevron, at Me'arat HaMachpela for Parsha Chayei Sarah. What better kavod than to daven right in front of Sarah's kever!

A friend arranged a private van to take us there and back, and rented a beautiful villa in Kiryat Arba. The city had organized all three Shabbat meals in a building next to HaMachpela as well as lectures and tours for those interested (and I was definitely interested!).

Upon arrival I went with two other women to collect our "wrist bands" for entry to venues and meals for our group,  as well a programs and maps of the city. As we walked down the street a group of beautiful young Israelis ran over to greet us and give us a "sweet treat" with a welcome letter and street map. Their beautiful smiles and exuberance was proof of Hevron's reputation as the "City of Hospitality". What a great start to Shabbat!

For our safety, the IDF was out in force. As we walked the streets we were rarely out of sight of our awesome boys and girls of the IDF...standing guard, day and night. Of course, in Hevron and Kiryat Arba the people have a special love for those who watch over them. As an example, the road from Kiryat Arba to Me'arat HaMachpela runs through a dodgy area, so it is custom to "tremp" (hitch) a ride down. As we were rather lost, a group of young people flagged down a car for us. All the way to Me'arat HaMachpela the beautiful woman driving was beeping her horn in greeting to every group of soldiers along the way. We joined in by waving and merrily shouting "Shabbat Shalom" all the way down. It was so exciting to see their smiling faces and joy as they waved and shouted back!

All weekend as we strolled around we greeted and were greeted by our boys and girls who were watching over us. The air was alive with excitement and happiness! Every Jew should experience this feeling of love and security~this, in a nutshell is Israel!

Among the other activities we partook of, was a walking tour to the top of the Hevron hills. Simcha, a wonderfully spiritual Rav, was our leader. This is one time that I really wished we could use cameras on Shabbat! What an experience!

We were scheduled to visit the new archaeological digs, but unfortunately a group of anarchists and angry Arabs decided to come out and make a scene. It was really something to see. What other country would put up with foreign agitators coming to stir up the population and drive them to violent actions! The EU and Scandinavian countries should be ashamed! Clean up your own back yard before you try to crap in mine!

All was well, as we were surrounded by the best military in the world. As we prepared to descend, Simcha gave a short thank-you to the group of soldiers who had arrived to stand as a shield in front of us. It was so emotional and our entire group was cheering and clapping and singing for our boys.

This was a blessed weekend and I came away with my head in the clouds. Not only did I have the merit to be in Me'arat HaMachpela, but I was able to witness and feel the love and security that is mine (and that of every Jew) as our IDF watch over us.

To all my Jewish brothers and sisters, the time to make Aliyah is NOW! There is no other place in the world for Jews. You will never be loved and protected as you are here in our Holy Land of Eretz Yisrael, with Hashem watching over us and the IDF standing before us.

How Palestinian TV Incites Arabs to Murder Jews

The ongoing terror attacks and murders in Israel has been labelled The Intifada of the Knife and is being fomented by Social media and ongoing incitement by "palestinian" leaders.

Israelis want peace! We bombard our officials and hold protests for peace. Our government has made concession after concession in the hopes to sit down and create middle east where we can raise our families and just "live"

Many of the Arabs who attack and murder Jews work, live, and are educated in Israel! As someone living in Jerusalem I can say that a great many of them live in far better circumstances than I do! Those who live in poor conditions are the ones who are under the control of Islam and the corrupt leaders. The UN, EU and world at large fill the pockets of these leaders, while their own people blame Israel for everything they lack. It is a farce of the first degree and the politically correct west has swallowed the worm, hook, line and sinker!

When interviewed anonymously the vast majority of Arabs would rather live under Israeli rule than PA (or any other Muslim) rule. Why? Because they live better, and are treated better~end of story!

Meanwhile, incitement by Palestinian officials, social media and "palestinian" television has created a society that thinks only of murder and martyrdom. As much as civilized people value life~this is a culture that only worships death. Mothers send their children to be wounded and hopefully murdered~Why? Because the PA pays a lifetime pension if their babies die killing Jews!

Below are some of the videos posted on social media and PA TV. The youth are being bombarded by visuals of incitement by the PLO, Hamas and various Arab nations.

This is happening every day and if the West does not wake up you will be next...

This is How the PA Media Brainwashes Children! Any Wonder There is NO Peace?

Henny Machlis Has Left This World~Baruch Dayan Emet

It is with great sorrow that I post that the beloved Rebbetzin Henny Machlis (Henna Rasha bat Yitta Ratza) was taken from us to dwell with Hashem. The funeral was on Friday, 16 October 2015 in the afternoon.

Due to Shabbat, there were very few announcements. I do not have the Shiva information, but as soon as it is available I will post.

At this time I really have no words. She was one of the most important people in my life and had a profound effect on me. I loved her and will miss her every day. I know that Clal Yisrael will have no better advocate then Henny. Her prayers and love for everyone was incalculable.

If anyone would like to have stories or memories posted, please feel free to send them and I will post directly to the blog.

All of our prayers are with her beloved husband, Rabbi Mordechai Machlis and their children and grandchildren during this difficult time.

The Yom Kippur War of 1973~Against All Odds

The Egyptians and Syrians never got over the Israeli victory in the 1967 war (June 5th to 10th, 1967). The Arab world hates to "lose face" and in typical fashion, refused any attempts at peace and instead devised a plan that (they thought) would allow them to beat (ie: eliminate) Israel. The plan was for Syria to invade from the north while Egypt hit from the south, thereby splitting the Israeli forces in half.

Worried about losing more territory, King Hussein of Jordan, secretly met with Israeli president with Golda Meir to warn her of the impending attack. Sadly, there were those in the Israeli defense community who refused to see the truth, regardless of the intelligence, and all warnings were ignored. Israel had Moshe Dyan to lead her forces, but he was no longer the warrior he once was, and demonstrated a lack of nerve and the will to make decisions. This was the man, after all, who handed back the keys to the Temple Mount to the Waqf! It was a true miracle that Israeli forces managed to overcome the enemy.

Some claim initial devastation was because Israel was still on a high after the victory of 1967 and some claim it was just poor judgement. For whatever reasons, Golda Meir refused to fortify the soldiers along the borders~she should have listened to the warnings.

The day chosen for the attack was Yom Kippur~the Day of Atonement~a time when the entire country is shut down. The battle raged for three weeks (October 6 to 25, 1973). Seemingly, Israel was oblivious of the potential danger around them. Despite indications of military action on the part of Egypt, no defense preparations were made, which almost led to decimation. The odds were clearly against Israel in every respect with troops outnumbered by five to one, and in some areas eleven to one. Golda Meir said at the time:

This people small as it is, surrounded as it is by enemies, has decided to live. And if we have to pay the price for living, we have to pay it...

In the first attack, Egypt breached the Bar Lev Line and advanced eight miles~then stopped, because Sadat wanted to show that he could over run the Israelis. At the same time Syria attacked in the Golan. Armed with the latest in Russian military equipment the Egyptians seemed unstoppable in the beginning, and Israel suffered catastrophic losses.

For whatever reason, rather than holding the line, Sadat ordered a critical unit to cross deeper into Israeli territory and attack. It was a big mistake because it not only led his troops away from their defensive shield into the waiting Israeli fire, but even more crucially it left his east bank undefended.

After first refusing aid to Israel, the USA finally agreed to supply tanks and shells to the beleaguered Israeli forces so they could continue to fight. The Egyptian advance had halted and their rear line was open. Israel was now able to transfer forces north to Syria. Syria, and consequently Russia (Syria's backers) were not pleased as Israeli troops forged their way to Damascus.

When Israel was just outside Damascus, Sadat asked for cease fire negotiations. Then, as now, when negotiations began, the one thing Israel asked for was that the Arab world would acknowledge that Israel had a right to exist!

On 19 November 1977, Anwar Sadat  met with Menachen Begin in Jerusalem to negotiate a peace treaty. In September 1978 Sadat and Begin signed a peace treaty at Camp David in the USA. Israel, as always was willing to give up a lot and she did. This time it was the Sinai, a patch of land that was larger than Israel proper and more than that, it contained oil. For this reason, Sadat claimed victory for Egypt.

Israel never wanted war, and as always, demonstrated just that by giving up large swathes of land and resources in the hopes of living in peace with her Egyptian neighbours. What was Sadat's reward? His own people assassinated him on 06 October, 1981.

I Am My Beloved's~Rabbi Shmuel Braun

As we enter the month of Elul it is a time for reflection, and for many a list of "rules" to be followed. The shiur below is by a rabbi that I have been privileged to learn with and who has a unique perspective, Rabbi Shmuel Braun. Through friends, I was able to become better acquainted with the rabbi outside of class, at Shabbos meals and other events. I still recall the many hours of lively discussion and exchange of ideas that we all found so enjoyable.

Rabbi Braun was not only a teacher, but a friend. He helped us in our learning without making us feel embarrassed at our lack of knowledge. In all areas he made learning something that we were excited about~it was never a chore.

One thing that I found particularly interesting was his wide area of study. On his Blog, The Sense of the Ineffable you will find not only quotes from Torah and Tanya, but from Kierkegaard, Maimonides, Kant and Shakespeare (to name a few!). Rabbi Braun is very learned in many areas, including philosophy, and is always willing to engage in lively discussion on any topic~he loves to be challenged. He is now based in America and is greatly missed by many people here in Jerusalem.
The shiur below is on the meaning of the month of Elul. Rabbi Braun has an exciting perspective on how we should view this very important time leading up to Rosh Hashanah.

Jerusalem Backyard Now Available in English

Last week I posted about my very good friend (and Blogger), who is beginning to publish some of her writings.

A long time resident of Jerusalem, she has been very involved with several of the Chassidic communities in Mea Shearim, and maintains many close friendships to this day.

Her first effort was released in German, but the English version is now available on Amazon Books.

As I said when I wrote about her first book, it is a first effort, and is therefore small, but she has already begun a new set of short stories about her many experiences in Jerusalem.  She also has many stories of adventures in other parts of Israel and the oddities that can "only happen in Israel".

The books can be ordered via the Amazon link above, or if you would prefer, you can order a pdf file from her blogs. Just make the payment via the PayPal button and she will email the file to you.

Rabbi Mordechai Machlis is Back in Jerusalem !

Last Shabbat, a friend and I decided to walk to the Machlis home to see who, if anyone was there. To our great delight we walked in and Rabbi Machlis himself was at the table. He had just flown in that day from America and it was hard to fathom how he could stay on his feet, teaching, smiling and running the Friday Shabbat meal for a huge crowd...maybe a hundred souls! Yet, there he was!

One of his daughters was also there with her husband, as were three of his sons. It should be noted that while the Rabbi has been away, his son Yoshua has been carrying a heavy load to organize and run all the meals in his absence. He looked exhausted but that did not stop him from energetically helping all to enjoy the Shabbat!

Of course, almost everyone there was mostly concerned with Rebbetzin Henny. You may have noticed that my postings of late have been to relay messages from a friend about her status. As the Rabbi put it, Henny is a very positive person (an understatement!). He said that when he spoke to her before Shabbat came in that she considered her status as a cup half full~ready to be filled to the top. In fact, it was Rebbetzin Henny who insisted the Rabbi come back to Jerusalem!

It was a great Shabbat evening and we were very happy that we decided to walk down.

My friend also went to the Rabbi's classes this week, and relayed to me that the Rabbi had spoken to Henny and he is expecting her to return to Jerusalem at the conclusion of her current treatments. This is good news indeed!

This is a family that that has given their all to multitudes of people around the world. Please, as we are nearing another Shabbat, remember them all in your prayers. Say Tehillim for Rebbetzin Henny, (Henna Rasha bat Yitta Ratza) and don't forget to include Rabbi Mordechai and all of their children.

Remember that they have all been through so much, and yet, during all this time have continued to provide meals and support for the tens of people who visit their home each day and every Shabbat. Only someone who has been there and seen their consistent love, care, and giving over so many years, can truly understand just how much they do.

I can't wait for Rebbetzin Henny to be back in the Jerusalem she loves, so I can remind her how much she is loved by me and thousands of others, and that Jerusalem (and Israel) is just not the same when she is not here!!

Brazen Plug for a New Book of Hassidic Stories

A very good friend (and Blogger), who is a long time resident of Jerusalem, has finally decided to start publishing some of her stories.

She has been very involved with several of the Chassidic communities in Mea Shearim, and maintains many close friendships to this day.

It is daunting to foray into the publishing arena. Her first effort (pictured to the right) has just been released in German. The English version will be out in about a week and hopefully more will follow in quick order.

This first effort is small, but there is a plethora of stories ready to be set and published.

If you read German can download the book now from Amazon or order via PayPal on her blogs to receive a pdf file. Her blogs are listed below and are good reading in themselves.

English speakers will be able to order within a week~I'll post when it is available.

The families of the fallen soldiers, the President of Israel,  possibly the Prime MInister, the Defense Minister, the Chief Rabbis and Generals, etc. will attend the ceremony and festive dancing. There there will be "a lot of security"

Our Tefillah for Henny Machlis has been given the blessing of The Rabbi of the Kotel, Rabbi Schmuel Rabinovich

We are asked to gather at the Golden Menorah on the steps to the Kotel at 20:00 (08:00pm).

Security will then escort us as a group to the Kotel. You can come by train or Bus #38 and walk down to the Kotel from the Jewish Quarter.

~ Except for Invited Guests.

Rebbetzin Hennie Machlis~URGENT Update...

Picture © TAB
I have received many requests for information on the status of  Rebbetzin Hennie Machlis. For all of you around the globe who dearly love her, please know that she needs our heartfelt prayers now!

There will be a special Womens "Tehillim" at the Kotel for our beloved Hennie, to take place on Wednesday, 12 August 2015 at 20:00 to 21:30 pm. We are asking for her complete 'refuah schlema.' (See Details Below)

Rabbi Mordechai Machlis and Rebbetzin Hennie are the Avraham Avinu and Sarah Imenu of our generation. Over a period of thirty-five years, they have hosted over 400,000 people for Shabbat, in their tiny home. Each Shabbat they have served three delicious, homemade meals prepared with love and prayers by Rebbetzin Hennie and her beautiful daughters. To see their loving smiles as they cook and prepare for Shabbat in their tiny kitchen,  is truly an inspiration to behold. There is always more than enough food for everyone and somehow, there is always room for one more! All of the HUGE pots and pans bear witness to the warmth, generosity and sanctity of Hennie's kitchen. I remember asking what secret ingredients she uses in her "recipes", Hennie just smiled and said that she prays Tehillim over each pot. When you see hundreds of people eating, singing, rejoicing and sharing 'Dvar Torah' at the Machlis Shabbos 'tisch' in their humble apartment, it is a wonder, and it is easy to believe that Hennie's prayers have been heard by the Creator.

As soon as you meet Hennie you are embraced with her warmth and so much love...you feel she is your very best friend...and that she will be there for you forever. Hennie has thousands of 'best friends' all over the world. Imagine that!

Now, our beloved Hennie (Henna Rasha bat Yitta Ratza), this most amazingly beautiful tzeddekas, overflowing with love, kindness, compassion and understanding needs Our Prayers~Our Prayers for her refuah schlema'~from around the world.

Hennie, (Henna Rasha bat Yitta Ratza), needs all of us to comfort her and to to pour out our hearts in prayer and to gently storm the gates of Heaven for a speedy and complete 'refuah schlema.'

We love you Hennie...we are with you...we are here for you...we need you...your husband, children and grandchildren need you...all your 'best friends in the world' need you...the lost and lonely need you...and 'Klal Israel' needs you.

So We Are Asking Everyone to Please Join us and Bring your Tehillim!

...If you are not in Jerusalem~Please, wherever you are on Wednesday, 12 August 2015  at  20:30 (8:30pm) Jerusalem Time, Stop~Open your Tehillim and send your prayers~to be joined with the prayers of all of Hennie's friends who will be at the Kotel~prayers to the very Gates of Heaven, pleading for a complete 'refuah schlema' for Henna Rasha bat Yitta Ratza!

Passerby Scolds Sheik for Teaching Kids Martyrdom

Everyone should watch this carefully. This incident took place at the entrance to the Al-Aqsa (Temple Mount) compound. Because of  "Arabs Rioting" security had blocked entry to the compound.

Please listen and read the sub-titles to see what this "vile sheik" is teaching young children in the open. You will note that there are Israeli soldiers standing there (they are there to protect Arabs, Jews, and anyone else that is in the area). They make no move to disturb or stop this hateful person~these are the very soldiers that the world condemns! Kol ha Kavod to the "only" gentleman who had the common sense to reprimand this "sheik" on drilling such hatred into young children.

How can the world demand that we make any kind of deal with these people when they stand openly and scream "Khaybar, Khaybar, oh Jews~The Army of mohammed is Coming for You." The hatred is bred into the children from birth. What chance is there for them to even think about a peaceful existence? Here is the comment from MEMRI~TV~ that accompanied the video:

Please Visit  MEMRI~TV~Educate Yourself!!

On July 27, 2015, Sheik Khaled Al-Maghrabi could be seen preaching martyrdom to children on the streets of the Old City of Jerusalem. As a passerby scolded him, saying that he should not be teaching such notions to children, the children were led in chants in praise of martyrdom and of "Khaybar, Khaybar, oh Jews." Al-Maghrabi and the children, who were attending his summer camp at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, were prevented from entering the compound because of the riots.

"Sin'at Chinam"~The Destruction of the Holy Temple

Every morning, every Jew, before he starts praying to Hashem must say these words:

"Here I am, taking upon myself an "ase mitzvah" of "you shall love your fellow Jew as you love yourself, and here I am taking upon myself to love each Jew as my own soul and flesh"... "

All the human destruction starts from the lack of "Ahavat Yisrael"

Women In Green Walk Around the Walls of Jerusalem!

From The Women In Green Site: If You Are In/Near Jerusalem Be Sure To Attend!!

Something New in the Tisha b’Av Walk around the Walls

~ No Limitations by Police…

This year, just as in all of the 20 previous years, thousands of participants will come from throughout the Land, together with leading public figures and rabbis, for Women in Green’s annual Tisha b’Av evening Walk Around the Walls. This year, without limitations by the police.

With the participation of the deputy minister of defense, MK Rabbi Eli ben Dahan, MK Bezalel Smotrich, Prof. Arye Eldad, Rabbi Yosef Mendelevitch and Arye Klein, Women in Green is upholding the tradition of the Walk Around the Walls of the Old City on the evening of Tisha b’Av, again this year.

The walk will be held for the 21st  year and will begin, as usual, in Independence Park in the heart of Jerusalem, so that hundreds of participants will be able to join from all areas of the Land, for a public reading of the Scroll of Lamentations. Immediately afterwards, the walk itself will begin, via the New Gate, Damascus Gate, Herod’s Gate and the Lion’s Gate, where the participants will gather to hear speeches by the public figures who have accompanied the walk.

The heads of Women in Green, Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, note that contrary to previous years, this year the police have not placed any restrictions on the walk. As we may remember, in the past, certain elements within the Jerusalem Police tried to divert the route of the walk from locations that were defined as foci of friction with the Muslim population and they have even tried to have the walk cancelled. Actually, all of the previous walks ended without any confrontations at all. This year, as mentioned, the police refrained from any such attempts; Women in Green are pleased with this and see it as a testimony to the power of this great tradition to bring about changes even unto the top ranks among the police.

To this, Katsover and Matar add, moreover, that especially during this period, when radical Muslim factors have been inflaming passions and have been fighting against a Jewish presence in eastern Jerusalem, carrying out attacks and attempting to carrying out attacks against the capital, “especially now, a massive Jewish presence in the walk is important, which expresses  the longing for full Israeli sovereignty in all parts of Jerusalem, as well as in all parts of the Land of Israel”.

We remind you that the walk, which was initiated 21 years ago with a few hundred participants, has gained momentum and strength over the years; thousands of participants gather from every part of the Land, and even from abroad, as well as many public figures and it has become a tradition that expresses national pride and aspiration for Israeli sovereignty and the rebuilding of the Holy Temple.

The gathering for the reading of the Megilla in Gan Ha’Atzma’ut will begin at 21:30.
The walk itself will commence at 22:30.

Mivtsa Yonatan: The Raid on Entebbe

Safe in Israel! Image Credit:  Knesset.gov.il
On 27 June 1976, an Air France airbus carrying 248 people, was hijacked and flown via Benghazi, Libya, to Entebbe in Uganda.

The terrorists responsible were from the PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine). PLFP and Fatah were the two largest groups of the PLO terror organization. They were joined by two members of Baader-Meinhof terror group, also known as Red Army Faction.

At Entebbe, the plane was met by more terrorists and Ugandan troops. The terrorists began to "separate" the Jews~Israelis from the main group of passengers, an act, that for many, brought back memories of the "selectzia" carried out by the Germans during the Holocaust. When the terrorists announced the plan to release all non-Jews, Captain Bacos spoke to his crew, and they decided to stay until all of their passengers were free. It should be noted that  Captain Michel Bacos was awarded a medal by the Israeli government, for refusing to leave his Jewish passengers behind.

As the remaining hostages were Jews~Israelis, to the world, it became an "Israeli" problem, and Israel, fearing a slaughter, realized they were on their own (nothing new). To the public, the Israeli government announced they would negotiate. While negotiations with the terrorists began, Israeli agents were busy gathering information as the IDF hatched a daring plan~they would fly a group of commandos over 2,500 miles (4,000 km) to Uganda and free the hostages. They only had a few days to rehearse what would become one of the most daring rescues ever pulled off. The timing had to be perfect with surprise being the key to success. Such was the concern for loss of life, the nine hour flight was more than half over before they received the final go ahead from the government.

From the time the rescue force landed, to the time the planes with the hostages took off, a mere fifty-three minutes had passed. All of the hijackers, three hostages and forty-five Ugandan soldiers were killed, while thirty of Uganda's Soviet-built MiG-17s and MiG-21s  were destroyed to prevent them from following the escaping planes. Dora Bloch, a 74-year-old grandmother, had been taken to Kampala hospital prior to the raid. It was later reported that the blood-thirsty dictator, Idi Amin was so enraged after the rescue that he had Mrs. Bloch dragged from her bed and shot. Only one member of the rescue team died, Lieutenant-Colonel Yonathan Netanyahu.

The Entebbe rescue, had the military codename Operation Thunderbolt, but was posthumously named "Mivtsa Yonathan" (Hebrew for Operation Yonatan) in memory of their leader, Yonatan Netanyahu (older brother of our current PM, Benjamin Netanayahu).

There have been many films on the operation, and each one has slight differences depending on who was telling the story. Be that as it may, the sheer awesomeness of the rescue can never be denied.

The first video below tells of the life and events leading up to Yoni Netanyahu's last day. The second film provides the basics of how the raid by Israel's finest was planned and carried out. The third film is the Hollywood version with Charles Bronson.

If you only have time to watch one, I strongly recommend the first. It follows Yoni from childhood to his final act of bravery for the country he loved. You will hear excerpts from his letters~Yoni was a prolific writer~and recollections from his family, friends, army comrades and commanders. Some of the film footage is from the personal archives of the Netanyahu family. The film gives a very personal view of an exceptional man, a Jew, an Israeli, a soldier, a poet, an intellectual, an idealist and a fighter. It provides Yoni's own thoughts and reflections on his life and loves, and Israel. Referred to by his troops as the Man of the Sword and the Book (Bible), he was truly one of a kind.

Gad Elbaz~Keep The Faith (A Beautiful Song!)

Gad Elbaz Sings With Deep Feeling~Truly One of Our Best Singers...

לשמור על התקווה

Lyrics (Very Rough Translation)
It's another long night of shadows and frights
And someone has gone mad, frozen in time
I remember good times flowing like water to me
And now, with prayers I no longer see the sky
Our life here is like a Ferris wheel
Between fire and earth, between home and away
And how is it that today we fell on our hips
Suddenly, with tears in eyes no longer see

(Chorus)
What else is left for us except faith
What else is there among all changed
Day After another day, year after year
What else is there besides us...
What else is left for us except love
What else is there, just keep Hope
Day After another day, year after year
What else is left for us except faith

And if you keep up, over me
Wiping away a tear of Mother, who waited too
More light will be revealed cracks in the night
The new morning will again, we will go on

Gad Elbaz~Part Of Me (Great Israeli Singer!)

Part of Me by Gad Elbaz (גד אלבז~חלק ממני) (Lyrics in Hebrew and English Below)

Lyrics (A Poor Translation~Corrections Would be Welcomed!)
Part of me will always remain in the spirit, and knowledge to walk between evil and good,
In a world steel and thorns, part of me will always remember love,
Part of me weep without understanding, part of me will continue to believe.

Even if you do not already see the light and dark touches.
Part of me will always remember, and be there.
Some forget me...love me...

Some part of me will always remain of the water and touch the sky, more than ever,
When suddenly I forget to look in the eyes, a part of me will always remember to look.

Even if you do not already see the light and dark concerns.
Part of me will always remember, and be there.
Some part of me would forget me...love me...

Israel~This is My Country!

It has been just over a month since we Israelis celebrated Yom Ha'atzmaut, the birth of our country sixty-seven years ago. Every year there are speeches coming from anyone and everyone who can get their hands on a microphone. Good or bad, someone always has something to say~which is generally forgotten after the event. Sometimes, however, there are articles that are worth reviewing regardless of the time of  year.

When Israel "turned 60" many wrote stories and articles for the magazines and papers both on and off line. In my opinion, one of the best was from Ephraim Kishon (23 August 1924 ~ 29 January 2005) who wrote a weekly column in Maariv, a mainstream, Hebrew-language newspaper. Mr. Kishon, was a talented and interesting man. His life story is worth reading. I believe that, in this article, he has truly described "Israel and Israelis" in a nutshell...Enjoy!

This is Israel!
This is the only country where the unemployed strike;

This is the only country where sixty year olds still hate their tironut commander;

This is the only country where the corporals' mother has the commander's telephone number;

This is the only country that has a communications satellite, but nobody lets you finish a sentence;

This is the only country hit by missiles from Iraq, Katushas from Lebanon, suicide bombers from Gaza and rockets from Syria~and still a three-room apartment costs more than in Paris;

This is the only country where an Israeli meal is made from an Arab salad, Romanian kebabs, Iraqi pita bread and Bavarian mousse. We must like eating ant-Semitics!

This is the only country where the guy with the open and stained shirt is the honourable minister and the guy beside him wearing the suit and tie is his driver;

This is the only country where the phrase "I don't interfere" means that I want to interfere;

This is the only country where Muslims sell sacred souvenirs to Christians in exchange for bills that have the Rambam's face on them;

This is the only country where, at the age of eighteen you leave home but at twenty-four you still live with your parents;

This is the only country where people who come to your home for the first time ask you if  it's OK to go and take something from the fridge;

This is the only country where you can tell what the security situation is from the songs that are being played on the radio;

This is the only country where the rich are on the socialist left, the poor on the capitalist right and the middle-class pays for everything;

This is the only country where there is no problem to get the software that launches a space shuttle, but you have to wait a week for your washing machine to be fixed;
...And only here is there a time unit called "sometime between 11 and 6"!

This is the only country where between the happiest day and the saddest day there are exactly sixty seconds;

This is the only country where most people can't explain why they live here but they have loads of reasons why they can't live elsewhere;

This is the only country where if you hate politicians, hate clerks, hate the situation, hate the taxes, hate the quality of service, and hate the weather, it must mean that you like the country...

This Is The Only Country I Could Live In!!!  It's My Country~Israel!!!
