International Women's Day

As women around the world attempt to make themselves heard it is clear that the issues are far too many to even begin to count. Have we really come so very far in 100 years?

Elder of Ziyon has a great post on how women in Gaza celebrate the day.  Do go to his site to read the entire post. He links to the Guardian's interview of a Gazan woman speaking about her love of life, and how oppressed she is (by Israel, of course). He also cites an article from Palestine Today marking the occasion by an interview with Mrs. Dadhouh, whose  claim to fame is the fact that three of her children were Islamic Jihad terrorists that were killed by Israel. Mrs. Dadhouh is, of course, proud of her sons:   "I do not regret that three of my children are martyrs; we all must have the Certificate [of martyrdom], and be ready to continue on this path for Palestine and for the redemption of Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque...Palestinian women are willing to sacrifice and give all that they possess for Jerusalem and to walk on the path of the martyrs."

Elder ends with his own question: I wonder why the Guardian didn't interview Mrs. Dadhouh?   Why indeed...

Finally, Although I am not a fan of the current 007 (only Sean Connery for me), I thought this clip made for Women's Day might appeal to some...
