Tniyeleh by Shulem Lemmer~Close Your Eyes and Enjoy!
This Young Man's Soulful Voice Comes Directly From Hashem~Amazing!
*A Tniyeleh is a short soulful tune sung without words.
Lyrics Translation:
On the way home from the Rebbe together
On the way home, we got so many positive influences
Now I am alone and my heart pines
Now I am alone but I remember the tniyeleh*
Ah, ah...
When a hard time comes, from the Creator Who seems so far
When a hard time comes, tests from every side
I see the Rebbe standing himself by the lectern
I see the Rebbe alone, singing the tniyeh, so beautifully
Ah, ah...
Ay, ay, ay, the tniyeleh, even when I’m far away
Ay, ay, ay, the tniyeleh warms my heart
Ah, ah…

Independence Day in My Neighbourhood~Nof Zion
![]() |
| Looking Down From the Balcony |
Since the lock down from the corona virus my community has striven to maintain a quality of life that includes neighbours checking on each other and offering aid when needed.
The families on the lower floors often play instruments and sing songs, and every day the men have their minyan for daily prayers while "distancing" themselves.
They stand in their yards and on their balconies, and even without microphones we can follow along. I must say I do enjoy being able to sit in my front room or on the balcony and follow the prayers.

| Har Habayit |
I have lived here for several years now. The community is made up of a mixture of young and old families, senior citizens, religious and not so religious. The people are warm but do not "get in your face" as sometimes happens when you live in close circumstances. I love my apartment and am very happy to be able to live in Jerusalem so close to the Old City.
One of my favourite things is the view! From every balcony we see Har Habayit, Har Zayteem and over to the far right the security wall and in the far distance the lights of Jordan on a clear night. We are also overlooking Jabel Mukaber. The plus side of that is the regular fireworks displays. Particularly during the summer months we see very impressive displays most nights.
For Independence day the community set up speakers and flags and gave us all a public celebration while maintaining distancing. While I am sure that everyone misses "personal contact" it is a wonderful thing to be able to feel connected as a community. While standing on our balconies we could hear and look around and see our neighbours taking part in this most important day for Israel~it was exhilarating! Am Israel Chai!!

A Prayer For the State of Israel on Yom Ha'atzmaut
I first posted this in 2012, but it is always relevant. Before the founding of the state of Israel, Jews said a prayer for the nation in which they lived (usually after the haftorah reading~this varies). In 1948 the Chief Rabbinate of Israel published the Prayer for the State of Israel, which has since been used by most (but not all) communities.
The video (see below) of this beautiful prayer was made (in June 2011), by a member of the Israel Defense Forces. Accompanied by child soloist Micha Schachat, the S.F.Y. Philharmonic Orchestra & Choir conducted by Dr. Mordechai Sobol, IDF Chief Cantor, Lt. Col. Shai Abramson recorded The Prayer for the State of Israel at Eshel Studios in Tel Aviv.
Watching this video still brings tears to my eyes. I love my country Israel, and the members of the Israel Defense Forces who face daily danger, even as they are consistently vilified in the world press. Our IDF is so much more than tough, brave fighters, ready to defend us with their lives. They are vibrant, talented people with a love for Eretz Yisroel, and a soul from Hashem. I pray daily for the safety of the IDF and for peace on Israel.

Here is an English translation of the Chief Rabbinate's traditional (1948) version:
Our Father in heaven, Protector and Redeemer of Israel, bless the State of Israel, the dawn of our deliverance. Shield it beneath the wings of Your love; spread over it Your canopy of peace; send Your light and Your truth to its leaders, officers, and counselors, and direct them with Your good counsel.
Strengthen the defenders of our Holy Land; grant them, our God, salvation and crown them with victory. Establish peace in the land, and everlasting joy for its inhabitants. Remember our brethren, the whole house of Israel, in all the lands of their dispersion. Speedily bring them to Zion, Your city, to Jerusalem Your dwelling-place, as it is written in the Torah of Your servant Moses:

“Even if you are dispersed in the uttermost parts of the world, from there the Lord your God will gather and fetch you. The Lord your God will bring you into the land which your ancestors possessed, and you shall possess it; and God will make you more prosperous and more numerous than your ancestors.”
Unite our hearts to love and revere Your name, and to observe all the precepts of Your Torah. Speedily send us Your righteous Messiah of the House of David, to redeem those waiting for Your salvation. Shine forth in Your glorious majesty over all the inhabitants of Your world. Let everything that breathes proclaim: “The Lord God of Israel is King; His majesty rules over all”...Amen...Selah.

During These Stressful Times, Relax With a Song
Face The Unknown~A Beautiful Song by Hassidic Singer Shulem
Lyrics
Everyone is different
Distances between
And Fixing it is not as simple as it seems
But there is understanding
If you just believe
Together we will all join hearts in unity
Love will help you to be brave rushing in just like the waves
You don’t have to be afraid when we all believe
You and I are one
And wherever we're from
We all shine under the same sun
Love could never be wrong
And it helps us be strong
as we face the unknown
You can call me brother
Come to me in need
And I know that you’ll be there if ever it were me
Love will cross an ocean, deeper than the sea
It's possible we’ll make impossibilities
Love will help you to be brave rushing in just like the waves
You don’t have to be afraid when we all believe
You and I are one
And wherever we're from
We all shine under the same sun
Love could never be wrong
And it helps us be strong
as we face the unknown
Like a shadow and now
that the sun’s going down
Love still follows us around and I hope it always will
It’s a matter of faith
Just imagine a place
Where hate has been erased
It’s not hard if you try
You and I are one
And wherever we're from
We all shine under the same sun
Love could never be wrong
And it helps us be strong
As we face the unknown
You and I are one
And wherever we're from
We all shine under the same sun
And it helps us be strong
As we face the unknown
